Getting Started
SMIK-Af is your school's all-in-one digital platform — one app that brings school administrators, teachers, students, and parents onto the same system for academics, attendance, communication, finance, and school life. This guide explains every feature available to you, organised by your role in the school.
Everyone uses the same app and signs in with their own account. What you see is tailored to your role — a school administrator sees management tools a student doesn't, and a parent sees their own child's information only.
Installing the App
- Download "SMIK-Af" from the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad).
- Open the app once installed. You will land on the Sign In screen.
Signing In for the First Time
How you get access depends on how your school added you.
A. You received an activation code. If your school's administrator added you to the system (as a student, parent, teacher, or staff member), you will receive an activation code by SMS or from the school office.
- Open the app and choose "Activate Account".
- Enter the activation code you were given.
- Set your own password and confirm your phone number/email.
- You're in — your dashboard will load automatically.
B. Your school hasn't been added to SMIK-Af yet. If you are a School Administrator setting up your school for the first time, choose "Register a School" on the welcome screen and follow the application form (school name, contact details, location). Your application is reviewed and approved by the SMIK-Af team, after which you can sign in and begin setting up your school.
C. Returning users. Simply enter your registered phone number/email and password on the Sign In screen. Use "Forgot Password" if you need to reset it.
Finding Your Way Around
Once signed in, you land on your Dashboard — the home screen for your role. Along the bottom or side of the screen you'll find navigation to the main sections available to you. A few things are the same for everyone, no matter your role:
- Notification bell — shows updates relevant to you (new messages, report cards, announcements, appointment decisions, and more). Tap it to see the full list; tap any item to jump straight to what it's about.
- My ID / Profile — your own digital ID, where you can update your photo, contact details, and password.
- Messages — your private conversations and school announcements, reachable from your dashboard.
Getting Help
If something isn't working as expected, or you're not sure how to do something described in this guide, contact your school's administrator first — they manage your account and can often resolve access issues directly. See the Getting Help page for more.
